The reason I became a Barber is because of my father. My father is an old school Jamaican. He always told my brother and I to get trades. He said its good to have a "big" job, but it would be smart to have a trade to fall back on, if that big job was lost. I was working a corporate job that I hated. Then I got fired, and didn't have anything to fall back on. It occured to me that the old man was right. I needed a trade! He always suggested me being a plumber, but I didn't want to be shoveling shit. So I thought about It. My sister was a cosmotologist, and use to cut my hair when I was younger. My mind flashed to the Barbers I knew in my life and they were doing good and were free! It was then when I began to invision being a Barber. Really I was daydreaming about the money. That's how all of this started, in a nutshell. There is a lot that I left out. There were so many dead end jobs and sorrowful heart aches that I choose not to relive them now. Suffice it to say, becoming a Barber was one of the best things I have ever done in my life, because it has given me freedom, and self confidence. I've learned so much that I intend to share with you through this blog. But the most important thing for me to share with you is what my father shared with me: Get a trade! Pick some practical skill you like and pursue it! You never know when it will come in handy. Remember, you are never too old to learn something new. Its never too late to go back to school. Its never too late to pick up a trade. I owe my life and sanity to my trade.
